We all know that pool cue chalk is important. If you are playing the game regularly then I highly recommend picking up a cube or two. Nothing is worse than pool hall chalk, it’s usually mistreated and has the cue drilled through it. When beer or another liquid is spilt on it, then forget about it!

The great thing about pool cue chalk is it’s relatively inexpensive unless you are going premium, then you can expect to pay around $30. I certainly wouldn’t say that a cube of chalk that’s $30 is 3 times better than chalk worth $10 but what they do add could be the difference between a win and a loss. So, lets take a look at what is the best billiard chalk!

Kamui Roku Pool Cue Chalk

First up, let’s talk about Roku chalk from Kamui. Kamui claims they developed the Roku chalk to get the full potential out of their other premium product, their own cue tips; and they may have a point.

Roku chalk, if you were wondering means, hexagon in Japanese which is fitting for this hexagon-shaped chalk from the Japanese company.

We believe this is the best overall pool chalk available as it packs all the features that make the Kamui 0.98 and the 1.21 but without leaving any chalk on the cue ball or felt. Roku adheres to the cue tip evenly and grips to the cue ball spectacularly. This is why it’s ideal if you use it in conjunction with Kamui tips, or any tips,  as the effortless extra spin gained and reduced miscues mean it’s perfect for serious players.

If you need a little guidance on How to Chalk a Pool Cue, you can check out the article I wrote about it anytime.

Kamui Roku Pool cue Billiard Chalk - Blue
  • ROKU has been developed by seeking the best balance of particles while minimizing ingredients. It enables players to control their shots with higher accuracy
  • Grip power: In order to create a larger sweet spot, exact proportions of the chalk particles are delicately regulated. This enhancement makes the most of the potential of Kamui tips
  • Adhesion: Thanks to the unique ingredients, it is easy to apply an appropriate amount on the tip
  • Solidity: The chalk gains high density and solidity by removing the air. Benefits include ease of chalking and high adhesion, so it does not wear off
  • Made in Japan

Predator Pool Cue Chalk

Getting a premium product at this price point is also a huge win. This blue chalk spreads evenly and grips nicely to the cue ball, giving you extra control with every shot!

Because of the fine particles, you won’t need to chalk your cue after every shot and you’ll find you’ll still get a great grip on the cue ball. It really is one of the best pool cue chalks on the market!

Kamui 0.98 Pool Cue Chalk

For a 2nd time on this list we see Kamui, but this time we have the 0.98, brother to the Kamui 1.21 (Amazon link) and cousin to the Roku (Above).

As with anything in Kamui, you’re getting a product that’s up there with the best! The Chalk is designed with extremely fine particles of chalk that adhere to the cue tip. The fine particles are what give it the extra grip on the cue ball. This added friction also helps reduce their nasty miscues during games.

The texture of this chalk resembles a very sticky clay-like substance that sticks so well to the cue that you rarely need to chalk up during a game.  If you are wanting a more traditional type of chalk then perhaps the Kamui 1.21 is the best choice for you, but if want something a bit more smooth then it’s the 0.98 you want. Both excellent, both world-class!

A really top pool cue chalk that more than deserves its place on this list.

Don’t be concerned about its price as not all chalks need to be priced at a premium to be a premium product. There are plenty of other world-class chalks out there such as Diamond pool cue chalk (Amazon link) which is also well priced and still a top pool cue chalk.

What pool cue chalk do the pros use

Kamui chalk is a popular choice among professional pool players and is considered to be the best pool chalk.

This chalk is known for its superior gripping capabilities, which helps players maintain better control over their shots. Kamui chalk is also very durable and can last for an extended period of time without wearing it down. As a result, Kamui chalk is often considered to be the best option for serious and professional players alike.

Professional pool player Shane Van Boening uses Kamui chalk. He is considered one of the best pool players in the world and has won numerous tournaments throughout his career. Shane routinely uses Kamui chalk in order to get the most accurate shots possible.

Another pro player who swears by Kamui chalk is Niels Feijen.

What is the best chalk for Kamui tip

When you are looking for the best pool cue chalk to use with your Kamui pool cue tip, there are a few things you need to consider.

The main thing to look for is chalk that is designed specifically for use on Kamui tips. There are a few different brands on the market that offer this type of chalk, and it is important to use the right kind to get the most out of your Kamui tip.

Another thing to consider is the texture of the chalk. Kamui tips are designed to grab onto the cue ball, and smooth chalk can actually inhibit this ability. Look for a chalk that has a slightly rough texture, as it will help to maximize the grip on the cue ball.

Finally, it is important to find a chalk that will not wear down your Kamui tip. Some chalks are harsher than others and can damage the surface of the Kamui tip over time. Choose chalk that is gentle on your Kamui and will not cause any damage.

If your pool cue has a Kamui tip then you can’t go wrong with Kamui chalk, the two will complement each other well.

Does pool chalk color matter

There are a variety of pool chalk colors to choose from, but does the color of the chalk matter?

The color of the chalk can be important when playing on a pool table with a colored cloth. For example, if you are using green chalk and your opponent is using blue chalk, the blue chalk will show up more on the green cloth than the green chalk.

Some people also believe that the color of the chalk can affect the way the cue ball behaves. For example, some people think that using blue chalk will make the cue ball roll more slowly than if you were to use green chalk. However, this is simply not true.

The color of the chalk should match the color of your pool table cloth, this is to avoid chalk stains appearing on your table felt.

All In All

If I could leave you with one piece of advice to conclude this list of best pool cue chalks out there, it would be to try different chalks from time to time and see which one works best for your type of game.

Each billiard chalk is designed slightly differently and therefore you’ll get different noticeable results from different chalks. Keep testing till you find one that’s perfect for you.

Happy Shooting!
